STUDENT TESTIMONIAL

maria
I first attended Program for the Deaf Adults' Continuing Education Program in 1992. I took G.E.D classes for 2 years and eventually graduated with a G.E.D diploma (Spanish version). I am currently enrolled in LaGuardia's Academic Degree Program where I am pursuing an AA in Deaf Studies. My goal is to become an ASL teacher after I graduate. LaGuardia and PDA have helped me to get good support services that enabled me to pass all of my classes."-

"When I first attended LaGuardia Community College, I was enrolled in the Intensive Study in ASL Levels 2- 4 classes; these were the only credit classes I took through LaGCC. I had taken ASL classes in the past, but the classes offered by LaGuardia gave me something that other schools had not - a concrete foundation in ASL. That foundation gave me what I needed to get accepted into LaGuardia's Interpreting Education Project's two-year ASL/English Interpretation Certificate program and begin working towards my goal of becoming an American Sign Language Interpreter. I graduated from the program and am currently working as an interpreter." -Amanda Toukonen Boettcher,'03 IEP testimonial
