Orientation to WorkForce1
This is your introduction to the LaGuardia Community College Workforce1 Career Center. Learn about services that are available to jump-start your job search, find training to upgrade your skills for employment, or get help organizing your thoughts about how best to use these resources. Please bring a paper copy of your resume or an electronic copy on a jump drive/diskette. Starting May 2008 we will have extended hours until 7:00 PM including a 6:00 PM orientation.

Walk into the Resource Room
Dynamic and interactive, the Resource Room is a place where you can seek employment, strengthen or build your resume, boost your interviewing skills, and find information on careers. In this state-of-the-art room you will also have access to high speed internet, a printer and copy machine for your job search, phones to make business contacts and assistance from our friendly staff for any of the above mentioned activities.


Resume Basics: First Level

Building a resume is like baking a cake; you will need time to follow a detailed format to and a set of instructions on how to make from scratch.  Come and learn basic steps how to create your resume.  Computer literacy is needed. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Resume Clinic: Second Level
Do you feel that your resume needs to be better or stronger?  Our highly knowledgeable staff will review it to make recommendations and coach you how to make it an AMAZING tool in your job search.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Getting The Job You Really Want:Job Search I
There are many ways to look for work but there are several effective search strategies that every job seeker needs to use. Come and learn what these strategies are and learn how to use technology to find the job of your dreams. Please bring a copy of your resume. Computer literacy is needed. Job Seekers Group: Job Search II
After you learn about the two proven job search methods in Job Search I, the Job Seekers Group will coach you how to use these methods to conduct a successful job search. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Interview Skills Workshop
Want to STAND OUT at an interview? Want to feel confident in answering interview questions? Then attend this workshop to learn more about the interview process. Use this workshop to have your questions answered about the interview process, discover the most frequently asked interview questions, and to gain interview experience through group exercises. Careers In Health Care: How to get Started or Promoted?
Do you already work in the health field and want to get promoted? Have you always dreamed of working in this field but not quite sure where to start?
